Essential Trip Policies

Please Note: By registering for an OAR trip, participants agree to adhere to all department policies and University guidelines. Complete waivers, medical forms, and detailed trip itineraries are provided during registration.
What OAR Provides
What You Need to Bring
  • Group & Camping Gear: Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stoves, fuel, pots, and water filtration systems.
  • Technical/Specialized Gear: Backpacks and group safety equipment.
  • Transportation: Round-trip transit from the Weinstein Center for Recreation in University vans.
  • First Aid & Safety: Comprehensive medical kits and emergency communication devices.
  • Trail Meals & Snacks: Provided on all multi-day and full-day excursions.
  • Personal Clothing: Climate-appropriate activewear and synthetic/wool layers (avoid cotton at all times).
  • Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots, trail shoes, and water shoes or secure sandals (no flip-flops).
  • Personal Items: Water bottle or hydration pack, personal toiletries, and any personal medications (prescriptions, inhalers, EpiPens).
  • Weather Protection: Rain jacket/gear, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen).
