Fitness

Members of the Weinstein Center have access to a variety of fitness classes, as well as personal training, health assessments, and special programs.

Fitness Classes

No registration is required and no payment is necessary for Weinstein Center fitness classes.

  • All full-time employees/dependants/students will have access to all fitness classes without using tuition remission.
  • All community and paid members will have access to all fitness classes without paying a fee.

Fusion Portal

The Weinstein Center Portal is now available for on-line program registration and to purchase massage therapy and personal training sessions. Visit services.recreation.richmond.edu to log-in, make your selections and pay using Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit cards.

Be sure to log-in to the portal before making your selections in order to receive the correct pricing. Full-time students and Full-time employees click the orange button on the log-in page and use your UR Net ID and 16 digit password. All other members will use a local account to access the portal. Please contact Member Services at (804) 289-8361 to set-up your account.

Once logged into the portal, click on the programs option and register for the desired fitness program. If you have any questions, please contact Devan Martinez

It is based on the principle that a workout should be "fun and easy to do," allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a "feel-happy" workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

This class is a fast-paced style of yoga, but all levels are welcome! Focusing on strengthening our muscles and increasing flexibility, we will move through a series of poses, using our breath to guide the movement. The class will include a section for ab exercises and will end in savasana.

High-intensity interval training is intended to improve performance with short training sessions. The interval training class is designed to burn fat and build cardio endurance and strength in a short and intense workout. We will be doing a 2:1 ratio of work to rest intervals using kettle bells, battling ropes, BOSU’s, jump ropes, bands, medicine balls, body weight exercises, and core work. We will start with a five-minute warm-up and progress through eight circuits of exercises at a high intensity, then rest for two minutes before starting another round of eight exercises. HIIT is a fast-moving class that quickly builds cardiovascular endurance as well as strength.

Take your suspension training to the extreme. This class will be a bit more challenging by building upon more advanced strength and cardio exercises developed for the TRX system. Goal will be to take fewer breaks so the heart rate stays elevated to give you a tough and highly effective workout. Experience in TRX is recommended.
