Fitness

Members of the Weinstein Center have access to a variety of fitness classes, as well as personal training, health assessments, and special programs.

Fitness Classes

No registration is required and no payment is necessary for Weinstein Center fitness classes.

  • All full-time employees/dependants/students will have access to all fitness classes without using tuition remission.
  • All community and paid members will have access to all fitness classes without paying a fee.

Fusion Portal

The Weinstein Center Portal is now available for on-line program registration and to purchase massage therapy and personal training sessions. Visit services.recreation.richmond.edu to log-in, make your selections and pay using Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit cards.

Be sure to log-in to the portal before making your selections in order to receive the correct pricing. Full-time students and Full-time employees click the orange button on the log-in page and use your UR Net ID and 16 digit password. All other members will use a local account to access the portal. Please contact Member Services at (804) 289-8361 to set-up your account.

Once logged into the portal, click on the programs option and register for the desired fitness program. If you have any questions, please contact Devan Martinez

Masters swimming is for all swimming levels and ages. Share your love of the sport of swimming and your enthusiasm for swimming fitness by joining in on the workouts, the competitive (and non-competitive) spirit and the team camaraderie Masters swimming will afford you. Practices include technique instruction and are between 1,500–3,200 yards, depending on your ability.

Suspension training gives participants an edge over a pure protocol of conventional strength training. Why? Because every suspension training exercise builds truly functional strength and improves flexibility, balance, and core stability all at once, as is required on the playing fields of sport and in everyday life. Zumba combines high-energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "fun and easy to do," allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a "feel-happy" workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

Self Myofascial Release is self-massage using a foam roller, ball or device in conjunction with your body weight. By stimulating your connective tissue and nervous system, it creates a therapeutic pressure that helps to support your body's natural healing process. It helps to make stretching more effective and hydrates your fascia. It can help to alleviate pain or imbalances in the body and can smooth out the hard knots and get you moving better! The first 30 minutes are spent doing Myofascial release, and the last 15 minutes are spent doing mobility drills and movements to keep you using all ranges of motion and challenging your body to move in some new ways.
